Happy girl laughing

Breakaway is a registered not-for-profit charity

Two happy people

Breakaway was established in 1982 to enhance the lives of children and adults with physical disabilities. it is a place where people with disabilities can enjoy a break from the institution in which they live or a break from their family routine.

We receive no government funding.  We are eternally grateful to the community who have always supported us in a wide variety of ways – donations, volunteering, sponsorship, in-kind donations and probono work.

Breakaway also provides the opportunity to meet new people and encourages self-reliance and independence that continues long after the camp ends. A small army of dedicated volunteers make these camps a reality.
